We are very excited to share with you all a special write up about New Wave!
A WAVE TO WATCH | Firm of the Future Finalist
Reuben Bergola, young Australian entrepreneur making WAVES on the world stage.
Small business is the backbone of Australia’s economy, employing over 4.7M Australians. Which is why we love hearing stories of young Australians joining & contributing to the small business community. And even more so – when they start creating waves.
Meet Reuben Bergola, Gold Coast Accountant & Bookkeeper helping ‘Small Businesses Dream Big’ through his business New Wave, along with business partner Peri Cummins. The idea for New Wave came about while Reuben was working as an Accountant at a public Accounting firm. He realised that while technology was enabling transformation of traditional accounting methods, so many small businesses were still stuck in the traditional accounting & bookkeeping approaches.
Reuben was inspired to create a Bookkeeping & Accounting firm that led the way with cloud-based solutions like Quickbooks Online Accountant, offering small business owners significant efficiencies. The name New Wave itself was a nod to the firm breaking away from the stereotypes of traditional accounting firms. While you may be used to a stiffness & corporate suits, New Wave is vibrant, innovative & with a culture encouraging new thinking.
New Wave have recently been shortlisted as representing Australia as one of 4 finalists of the Firm of the Future contest conducted by Intuit (founder of QuickBooks Online software) – A worldwide search for the most future ready and forward thinking firms. New Wave along with the other three finalists from the US, Canada & the UK, have best demonstrated how they embrace online technologies to grow their practices and meet the dynamic needs of their small business clients. Their final submission, a 2-minute video, is nothing short of inspiring …. “I get out of bed saying, there’s work to be done, but it will be worth it.”
Reuben tells us that being a young business owner has taught him that “although starting your own business can be daunting, by embracing new technology and innovations available today, this is the time to be the entrepreneur. The journey is definitely not easy, but at the end of the day it will be all worth the leap.”
